i own a repair shop,,and i have done it before,,you need to find a good wrecked car like yours to start with,,you cant afford what its gong to cost to do it one piece at a time, i have tried it before for a customer,,and it was way to much,,i just got done doing a Mitsubishi eclipse from an automatic to a standard, and i got lucky and found a good wrecked one for the parts i needed, and only had to pay 400 for it,,and i got to keep what is left of the wrecked one,,i wouldn't attempt to try it without another car to work with,,this way you have the diagram of all the location of all the needed parts as well as a perfect picture of how to install them, and plus you may get lucky and get one with a fairly good clutch in it,,i did,but it was purely luck believe me,,but it can be done, but find another car wrecked or Even one blow-ed up,,you don't need an engine an way,,when you find it then id start changing things around,,good luck,,its a pretty good little job to do,i hope this help,s.

If you know how to work on cars, it is not that expensive. You could get a motor and tanny package from Japan with a few miles on it for about 1200. Now, putting it in is the problem. I am helping my friend do it and it takes a lot of time. We work on it for more than 3 months now. So, it won't be an overnight job. And so custom work have to be done in the interior to make it fit. Overall, it is a fun process. BTW, there is no 6 speed for your car. I don't know do you have to change the engine as well, my friend told me it is better to do so, since they come together in the same car. It should be better and less work, so for 1200, and may be 1 more month to go, we should have that finish. I have to tell you that the wire is the one that give us most problem, so look after that.

it costs alot of money to convert from auto to manual.. usually isnt worth the change expecially on a civic.

now a motor swap (say a GSR b18c1) would be a better choice.

its not even worth it, cause you got to R&R the trans, and it will run you about $3 to $4K.
