Your character is who you are - why you do what you do - your morals, your beliefs.

Your reputation is how people see you.

Your character and reputation can be the same - or different. You may totally be yourself around people and not care what they think about you. Or, maybe when you're with people you tell them that you drink.....but you really don't. You just think they'll think you're cooler if you do. Then your reputation might be different from who you really are.

Hope that helps!

Character is defined as "the mental and moral qualities distinctive to an individual," whereas reputation is how others perceive you. They are similar in that they both affect your personality - people can cause you to change if they alienate you or accept you based on your reputation, if they hear about you before they meet you, or your character after they get to know you. However, character is something that you have control over; one doesn't have as much say in one's reputation. I hope that helps!

Character is WHAT a person is and how they really are. Reputation is how the majority of people see them or what they are know for.
They can be similar, or they can be very different.
