Roger's anwer is right on the money. However, Obadyah points out a warning that Roger didn't mention: do NOT use duct tape when connecting a dryer vent. In most municipalities, duct tape violates code restrictions because it is a fire hazard.

I use both, since after a while the duct tape will dry out and crack. If the pipes shift or move, the tape will crack and won't seal well anymore.

neither.. use the clamps that are meant for that purpose.
available for about $1 at pretty much any hardware store.
(assuming that u r using the typical flexable vent hose... if u r using rigid then they do get screws.)
