Well there is a passover for the Jews and a passover for the Nazarenes. The Jews believe its the remembering of the death angel passing over Egypt. The Nazarenes believe it is remembering Jesus dying for the remission of our sins, it used to be the death angel until the new testament 1 Chr. 5:7. We celebrate it because the bible told us to celebrate the three feast days Feast of Ingathering (October 15) Passover (April 14) Feast Of Pentacost (June 6) every year

passover is found in the Bible book of Exodus. while the nation of Israel was slaves to Egypt . God showed His power in freeing the nation of Israel. there were the 10 plagues he sent into Egypt. the last plague God wanted a show of faith and ordered the Passover. the Passover consited of a meal to be eaten the night of the release. the main course was a lamb, which had to be without defect, was to be sacrificed. the blood of the lamb was to put on the doorpost of each house.

when the angel of death came into the land of Egypt to kill all the first born in the land, the angel would passover (or not kill) anyone in the house that had blood on the doorpost. this is the best foreshadowing of the meaning of Jesus death. if you take the blood of Jesus (Gods perfect lamb) on the door post of your heart then real death will Passover over your life.

Passover (Hebrew: פסח; transliterated as Pesach or Pesah), also called חג המצות (Chag HaMatzot - Festival of Matzot) is a Jewish holiday which is celebrated in the spring. It begins on the 15th day of Nisan (on the Hebrew calendar), which falls between March 15-April 30. Passover commemorates the Exodus and freedom of the Israelites from ancient Egypt. As described in the Book of Exodus, Passover marks the "birth" of the Jewish nation, as the Jews' ancestors were freed from being slaves of Pharaoh and allowed to become servants of God instead.

Together with Sukkot ("Tabernacles") and Shavuot ("Pentecost"), Passover is one of the three pilgrim festivals (Shalosh Regalim) during which the entire Jewish populace made a pilgrimage to Jerusalem, at the time when the Temple in Jerusalem was standing.

In Israel, Passover is a 7-day holiday, with the first and last days celebrated as a full festival (involving abstention from work, special prayer services and holiday meals). In the Jewish diaspora outside Israel, the holiday is traditionally celebrated for 8 days, with the first two days and last two days celebrated as full festivals. The intervening days are known as Chol HaMoed (festival weekdays).

The primary symbol of Passover is the matzo, a flat, unleavened "bread" which recalls the hurriedly-baked bread that the Israelites ate after their hasty departure from Egypt. According to Halakha, matzo may be made from flour derived from five types of grain: wheat, barley, spelt, oats, rye. The dough for matzo is made when flour is added to water only, which has not been allowed to rise for more than 18–22 minutes prior to baking.

Many Jews observe the positive Torah commandment of eating matzo on the first night of Passover at the Passover Seder, as well as the Torah prohibition against eating or owning Chametz which includes any leavened products — such as bread, cake, cookies, beer, whisky or pasta (or anything whose dough has been mixed with a leavening agent or which has been left to rise more than 18 minutes) — for the duration of the holiday.

Passover is about how the Jews (thats us) were slaves in Egypt to a mean nasty pharoh. Then moses comes along one day and says "hey pharoh let my people go or baaaad things will happen to all the egyptians" and pharoh was like 'ha you dont scare me." Then the 10 plagues happened (blood in the river, frogs, locust, wild animals, cows died, boils, darkness, the slaying of the first born, and two others which i forgot) and moses took the israelites out of egypt and turned around and said "nananana" to pharoh

Passover is a jewish holiday because they don't believe in that Jesus did anything. Therefore, they didn't convert passover into communion.

In the Seder, isn't it asked "Why is this night different form all other nights?" and the reply includes the affirmation that the Lord "brought us out of the land of Egypt"

NOT that the Lord brought our ancient ancestors out ... rather, that the Jews of today are one with their ancestors; what their ancestors did, in them the present day Jews also did. Therefore "the Lord brought US out the the land of Egypt"
