i am going to pick up my husband at t he bus station there and i want to know how safe is it and should i be scared since i will be traveling by myself

I've never been to Detriot, but I have been to many cities; and bus stations aren't awful like their surroundings. There are lots of travelers, busline employees, and security to make the place feel secure and professional.
The bus station is usually fenced off or walled off. It's a block big or part of a block. Stay on that side of the fence.
Do not listen to what these other folks are writing to you; they are just razzing you. Don't worry; you'll be fine - that's why they are razzing you.

unless you plan on announcing - hi ya'll i'm carrying $$$$ in my back pocket - you should be fine ; ) don't put yourself in harms way is all. walk tall and just relish the fact you're picking up your husband!!
