It's estimated that 70% of the U.S.A's population is dehydrated all the time and that 20% are dehydrated some of the time. That leaves only 10% who are sufficiently hydrated. No wonder doctors say "drink plenty of liquids."
Everything in your body works better when you're hydrated. You feel better, and you look better. You're also less tired. That dip in energy so many people get in the middle/late afternoon? Dehydration is a large contributing factor in that fatigue. So don't wait until you feel thirsty (by then you're already dehydrated)--drink plenty of fluids (preferably water) and then maybe you won't be seeing the doctor as often!

Liquids is a general word for anything that you could drink, for example, water, juice, coffee, tea, soda, milk, etc would all be considered liquids and it is easier to say "Drink Liquids" than to state all of the specific ones that you can drink.
The reason why is that the body is something like 95% water, and when we lose a lot of water through evaporation and elimination of wastes. We need to replenish that or we dehydrate and the body will stop working. When we are sick, we need even more liquids because we need to flush the toxins out of the body that are the result of the illness.

Human body consists of 70% fluids. The body needs replenishment because sweating, urinating and other activities will dehydrate oneself easily.
Enough fluids will also regulate body temperature. That's why drinks alot of plain water. Alternative I can think of is to choose variety of beverage to get a change of taste if you don't like water.
I am afraid there is no close substitute for liquids in solids or others.

Liquids are over 60% of ur body. Water is used in most of the chemical prosecces in ur body. U make a lot of toxin in ur body and a lot are ingested, all of these are excreted by the kidneys along with water. So drink plenty of fluids.

That statement means to drink enough fluid to keep the body hydrated. There are many people, especially the elderly, who do not drink enough fluids. Remember the body is mostly water.
Did you know that when a person is dehydrated, rather than being thirtsy the opposite happens and the person stops drinking.

Well they always say "drink plenty of liquids" to make sure that we keep our selves hydrate. Specially if you have an infection, (which usually comes with fever), if you are drinking meds and /or have diarrhea, because our bodies tend to dehydrate because of those reasons.

Liquids, water in particular, helps our body in many levels. Not just to quench our thirst. It regulates the sodium in your body, pushes out toxins, helps the lungs, etc.
Research the benefits of water and you will see how the lack of something so simple can make your body break down, in more ways than you could have ever imagined.
