Platinum means one million sold. Diamond means 10 million sold. Gold is only 500,000 and Silver is 250,000.
There is diamond. Here is proof.

1976
The Platinum® award is introduced. The Platinum® album is awarded for 1 million copies sold, with $2 million in sales at the manufacturer's wholesale price. The Platinum® single is awarded for two million copies sold.
1975
The RIAA® revises qualifications for Gold® album certification to require that an album also sell a minimum of 500,000 copies in addition to reaching $1 million in sales.
So platinum is better than gold...

Platinum is definitely better. I think platinum means that the artist has sold a million copies of their record.

Neither is better, because sales are absolutely not indicative of quality. However, a 'platinum' album sells more than a 'gold' album.

I believe when they say a record has "gone Gold" that means it has sold about 700,000 or 750,000 copies, and when it "goes Platinum" that means it has sold 1,000,000 copies.....so platinum record would be "better"

No it really is any opposite direction round, platinum is extra ideal than gold. it really is to do with chemistry, platinum is extra organic/the least reactive (something like that) metallic on the reactivity sequence.

Platinum. Not sure how many albums it means you have sold, but it's more than gold.

There's no such thing as a record going "Diamond." No one calls it that.
