...the average high temperature is 61°F.
...the average low temperature (in the middle of the night) is 47°F.
It can be as warm as the mid-80s°F.

Neither, it's mild. Could be anywhere from 50-70 during the day. The weather in Michigan is fairly unpredictable in October.

I live in South Dakota. There is a cold front today, and it is 55 degrees. If there is a cold front in early October, it will be 45-55 degrees. Otherwise, it will be in the sixties. That covers about 90% of the possibilities.

As a general statement, Michigan in general is cold in October... You may look at highs in the 60's if we get an indian summer, but more than likely, look for 50's...

you can almost bet on it that the weather will peak at about 60, but sometimes we amaze ourselves. i have seen it in the 80's and i've seen it in the 30's (recently for both). many of the smaller towns have their festivals in the fall, right around that time. sometimes it rains, sometimes it snows, sometimes it is just awesome.
i wish you luck (for both of us).
i'm not the weatherman, however, i did stay at a holiday inn express last night!

usually the air has a slight chill to it but other than that - the sky is clear and it's beautiful.
