You do need a land line-if you have a house phone that's working properly, you should have everything you need. You also need a modem that can handle DSL. Usually your provider will send you one with your startup kit.

yes u need cable or u can get a wireless modem and broadcast your signal in your house. if u have a wireless card in your laptop u pick up the signal
