Heather Has Two Mommies is 'the' classic Leslea Newman book. It's been around for over 12 years now. There are other books about Daddy and his friend/boyfriend etc. which are geared more to the bio kids of guys who come out after becoming fathers.

I recently went looking for a book that would be more appropriate for a child who was joining a two-daddy family. A gay male couple I know just adopted a 4 year old. I got them a copy of "A B C : A Family Alphabet Book"

It's written by Bobbie Coombs and illustrated by Desiree Keane and Brian Kappa. The ISBN is 0-9674468-1-3 and it's from Two Lives Publishing, whose tag line is "Creating books for children in alternative families". Check out www.twolives.com

This is a really nice book that isn't and 'issues' book specifically about gay couples, or adoption, or anything like that. Instead, it just uses families featuring male and female couples to illustrate the various statements in the book. Statements in the book include things like:
* C is for cookies. Both of my Dads know how to make great chocolate chip cookies.
* G is for garden. Our Moms like it when we help them work in the garden.
* H is for hugs. Our Dads give us big hugs when they pick us up from school.
* O is for overalls. I always wear overalls when my Dads take us to the playground.
* P is for penguins. My Moms like to take me to the aquarium to look at the penguins.
* R is for rainbow. Sometimes after it rains, we can see a rainbow in the sky.
* V is for vegetables. When we go grocery shopping, my Moms buy lots of vegetables.
* W is for wagon. Sometimes I ride in my wagon when my Dads take me for a walk.

Alyson Wonderland, a division of Alyson Publishing, sells *many*. The classic is "Heather Has Two Mommies." The cutest are "And Tango Makes Three" (about gay penguins at a zoo raising a penguin chick) and "Lucy Goes To the Country" (a calico cat raises hell with her "two big guys" chasing her.)

the only determination you additionally could make is despite if or not you settle with the final cloth, and (in keeping with that) despite if or not you will purchase it for your self (or for any destiny childrens). it would desire to be nicely carried out, it would desire to be undesirable. the two way, you won't be able to tell if it quite is a stable or undesirable concept till it is finished. and despite if it is undesirable, the concern remember would desire to be some thing that a gay couple desires to grant their infants. i'm not likely to purchase my childrens a e book approximately a thank you to be Mormon, considering's not how i could be elevating them. To share with them non secular issues that are actually not a similar because of the fact the religion they're being taught would desire to be extra confusing than efficient in commencing their minds to the international. As a mom, it is as much as me to compliment what my infants examine, despite if or not others think of it is stable or undesirable for my infant. it is my real as a discern. i'd desire to write approximately, coaching infants that basketballs are gods, and no-one would desire to do something approximately it. All they'd do could be: not purchase the e book for their childrens. So writing it quite is definitely her determination. it is a bad concept, it is a stable concept. What concerns is that, finally, it quite is usually a discern's job to compliment books for their infants. it is no person else's job to declare "this shouldn't additionally be written in the 1st place."

I don't know about books with two parents, but there's an excellent "classic" fairytale called "King & King" that's written for young children. It starts with "once upon a time" and everything.

Check it out!

The only one I can think of is "Heather Has Two Mommies" by Leslea Newman. Different gender, but you get the idea.
