Just a comment on the numbers provided above.
"m if you please" apparently found a source that gave an accurate figure for c (the speed of light) in km/sec.
"catherine k" gave a similar figure, but not exactly the same number.
So maybe you don't know which value to use.
Suggestion: Use "m if you please's" value.
While "catherine k" did the correct calculation, she did not consider the accuracy of the numbers she used in the calculation when she decided how many digits of her answer to report. She used a speed of light that is accurate to 3 significant digits. She multiplied by the number of kilometers in a mile, which was accurate to 4 significant digits. So in her answer, we can't rely on more than the first 3 digits (i.e., base it on the least accurate of the factors that went into the calculation).

the speed of light is 186,000 miles/sec, and there are 1.609 km to a mile, so, using the factor label or dimensional analysis method:
186,000 mi/sec x 1.609 km/1 mile = 299,274 km/sec.
