Ok, I've known this person my whole life (his dad and my dad were best friends) but both of the times he has asked me out have been at the worse moments. The first time he did was 1 month after my dads death and the second time was about 5 months later (I was still depressed about it). We are very close and I think we are pretty good together (if you are wondering I'm 17 and he is 20).....so, what do you think?

I normally don't give anyone a 2nd chance and I never give anyone a 3rd chance.

I say no, mostly because of the age difference. While it's only 3 years, those are some extremely pivotal years. You're likely in high school, and he's likely to be in college or a job. You two will have very different interests--I'm sure you have some things in common but you know what I mean--different lives, different friends, etc. And that's normal!

So, it's not really a question of turning down twice as you had good reasons to avoid a potentially complicated relationship. It's more a question of will it work, and given the big changes people go through at 17 to 21, neither of you will remain the same person in a year or so. The chances are against this relationship working.

If you two are decent friends, then stay away or you'll likely end the friendship in a year or so. If there isn't a friendship to ruin, then if you're prepared to have it end sooner rather than later, then go for it--just make sure the guy knows this.

If you're waiting for him to ask you a third time, I think he's run out of cheeks for you to slap. Really though, this time, you're going to have to ask him. Before you do, explain to him just like you did here how he asked you out before at bad times in your life, and that it wasn't him, but now you're ready.

You might get lucky!

If you know he's not going with anyone then talk to him and tell him why you turned him down.It sounds like you both know each other well so take a chance other wise you will never know.

Well, based on those circumstances alone, I would say 'yes'.

But if you turned him down in the first place, maybe you should ask yourself why, and think a little deeper.

Go for it, but you are pretty young. It probobly won't last that long. If you are close to this person, you might want to keep it casual, off and on, for a while.

I think you should at least go out one time and see how things go, you will never know where this will go till you give it a try.
