I do not understand why the news thinks that we want to hear about these things everyday. I am not being cold hearted...I just do not want to get all upset every time the news is on. I think that we need to hear what is good in this world instead of all that is bad. Then maybe we would have a better outlook on life. I mean how many times can the news report on a shooting...ours had 3 different stories on shootings today. What is the need to tell me this?

We need a local news station filled with uplifting stories!

They report it so we will know what really happening outside our homes so you would take extra care cause this things could happen. imagine if you did not know that a gun yielding lunatic is on the loose youll be walking around your neighborhood not knowing that the lunatic is already behind rwady to pull the trigger. Just look at it as a learning tool you know learning lessons with out experiencing it first hand. When you hear reports that a certain neighborhood has a very high robbery rate a night you would'nt be caught died in that neighborhood at night all alone but if you were not informed it becames the opposite. When you see a car accident because the driver was drunk you learn that you should'nt drive under the influence of alcohol or you'll end up in an accident. If you heard that a plane crashed the reports will give you an idea if the authorities are doing something to prevent it from happening again. Without the news about the crash and without media the plane youd just be shorthanded and will never know if there was something done to address the cause of the crash so it will be prevented so you will feel safer when boarding a plane.

It actually up to the viewer/reader of the news how he consumes what he see or read. You could do it the negative way were you get upset but please see to it the you take the warning and use it to better protect yourself.

My husband and that i have both been homeless or with a house yet too undesirable to purchase a lot nutrients (inspite of foodstamps) and we went to the nutrients banks for 'donated nutrients' ... maximum OF IT changed into no longer sturdy nutrients ... human beings supply 'old' cans they ought to throw away, damaged (smashed) pasta, blended dried beans that choose diverse quantities of soaking and cooking time ... even vegetables they don't favor to devour because they are wilted and dried out. when I supply to a foodbank (which we do frequently) i flow to the shop and purchase NEW fundamentals ... bins of pasta (the suitable they have, too), NEW cans of nutrients, clean flour, clean vegetables, canned meat and canned juices, toddler nutrients in all varieties ... then I take it and drop it off with a 'i'm hoping this enables' and a large smile ... if I loiter round, I tell the those that we once were the position they are, and we've money now, so we are only 'paying again' what we were given ... and persons postpone their heads and picture that they are only 'down for awhile' rather of being 'down perpetually' ... it really isn't any longer egocentric to feed someone who needs nutrients ... an previous man or woman, a worker, a mom, a father, a baby ... human beings should flow to mattress FEELING finished AND understanding they're going to GET finished the subsequent day, WEEK, MONTH, 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. Donate sturdy nutrients (no matter if it skill you should devour somewhat a lot less for an afternoon or 2 a month) and the international will be a extra ideal position for all persons!

That is what the majority of the people are interested in. Take what is going on in Iraq for instance. Everything that is reported is all of the bad things that happen which makes our views of the situation negative. My husband served in Iraq and he went on humanitarian missions sometimes and helped out the Iraqi people. Much of what our soldiers are doing over there is good but the average person doesn't hear of those things because the news refuses to report on it. Only people who have family or friends over there know some of the good things that are going on. The news is all political and it will never change unless some miracle happens and everyone boycotts the news. Maybe then they will change their stories.

I am from the town where a school shooting happened today!! You are being cold hearted!!! This town was devastated today and I guarantee you this story needs to be heard!!! People need to know what is going on in the world regardless of whether it is good or bad. If you don't want to hear the bad things in this world go lock yourself in a closet in the dark and don't ever come out!! We live in a cruel and ugly world, that is just the way it is!! Deal with it and don't criticize the rest of us that are living through this hell!!!

Being an ex media student I soon learnt that these are the sorts of things that make the news because for some reason us humans take a great interest in these sorts of things.

I do agree that there should be many more 'human'(uplifting) stories but unfortunately it seems that they odn't grab the headlines.

Maybe if we stopped showing our interests in those sorts of things then the face of media would change but as long as we have a thirst of knowledge for the world then it will show the bad stuff.

Too bad you aren't in the Des Moines viewing area. I created a TV station that tries to focus on the more important things for the viewers, instead of a network affilitate devoted to the ratings and leads that make people want to switch off the news.

To answer your question, it's about the ratings. Maybe things will change someday...

I agree that we need more uplifting stories , but, we also need to know whats going on in the world. By them reporting these stories also helps the victims get support. When this happens to someone its nice to know that there are people out there supporting you and you are not alone. Look how many fundraisers there have been to help victims out. If they wouldnt broadcast this stuff nobody would know and they wouldnt get much help.

The bottom line is money. Although expose's (the French word) tend to come from counter rags such the National Inquirer and Globe, mainstream newspapers are not innocent at printing such stories.

Iunderstand what you're saying but thats what news is all about. The media has to reprt these incidents to make people aware of whats going on and to avoid being in these situations. And also to make the public aware of criminials.
