Getting surgery on Friday. Have to take a stress test before I go to take the surgery. Is there anything that you recommend me to take to make the pain not hurt that bad. Also, to make me not have stress.

JUST TRY TO RELAX AND THINK OF SOMETHING ELSE THAT YOU LIKE, LIKE TO DO, LIKE TO LOOK AT, ECT. WHATEVER IT IS FOR YOU. MINE AN OCEAN VIEW FROM WHEN I WAS ON THE COAST. SO NICE AND WARM AND THE SOUND OF THE WAVES. GOOD LUCK TO YOU.

A stress test is not to see how much stress you have but to test your heart to see if there is any abnormalities or irregularities that might indicate a higher risk for surgery.Follow your Dr. advice for taking medicine for pain before surgery. Avoid aspirin or anything containing aspirin as this could cause a problem in blood clotting after surgery. After surgery a pain medicine will be ordered for you by your surgeon to help keep you comfortable.

Stress test....is this heart surgery ? I know of nothing beyond narcotics which your doctor will prescribe for post-op pain. I know many people report an easier time with pain and stress by practing meditation and similar alternatives to drugs. Friday is tomorrow, so good luck........let them know how your pain is right from the start. They should ask and treat as indicated anyway.

You should really ask your doctor these questions. I do know that you should NOT take any aspirin prior to surgery. To lessen the stress, get enough sleep the night before (8 hours), take deep breaths to eliminate anxiety, and realize that everyone feels the same when they are facing surgery! You will be absolutely fine!

Do you mean pain after surgery? Normally the doctor will prescribe you pain medication depending on the severity of the surgery. i had shoulder surgery about a year ago and i got vicadin, but with an ACL surgery, you can sometimes get a morphine pump. it all depends on the doctor and surgery.
