Okay, so people complain about cursing showing how small a person's vocabulary is and how there are better ways to express oneslf. My question is, what are some words that capture the same sentiment as words in this category? Fudge and oh heck and drat and darn and oh gosh just don't make the grade, and I really want to have some more sophisticated ways to convey the feeling behind a curse. Thanks for the help.

Doug S- although I would like to always have a peaceful and loving outlook, anger is an emotion which, if not expressed, can become injurious- for example, I'm very angry that I was abused and I want to tell that f'ing biatch that her lame pathetic attempt to absolve herself by turning to Jesus doesn't undo the scars on my mind and in my heart, and when I hear about the woman who sliced open the abdomen of her friend and stole her fetus and then drowned the woman's other three children I want to tell her that she is an abomination and her vileness is wretched and that I hope there is a special place in hell for her. Anyway....

Profanity is an attitude...not a language...A more peaceful, loving attitude eliminates profanity...How to change the attitude...Not a chance! Do I have a bad attitude toward this shallow, pathetic question? Whoops, sorry. Can you tell how the lack of profanity does not change the tone of my answer?

Every now and then life seems to demand a little profanity. The trick is not to overuse your really strong curses. Save them for the those times you just have to curse someone, they are much more impactful if used sparingly. For those other everyday pesky occasions why don't you learn a couple of choice words in a foriegn language? If you say them to people with the right tone they might even smile and thank you. That's really special.

that's a great question. My opinion is profanity shortens a person's actual feelings. Like when a person gets angry, instead of stating the reason for the reaction, you just say the curse word. It's kind of shortcut, i think. Who wants to say a whole sentence when they can shout out one word. I personally say fudge.

I always find that a good way to keep myself from using profanity rooted in anger is to just physically assault the individual who caused my anger. This way my anger is still released, and I can feel good knowing that I refrained from the use of any profanity.

Freak'n, and Smeg are my favorites.
BTW, I think saving profanity for special occasions is a good idea, because it has so much more effect. My mother very rarely cussed, so when she did, my brother and I knew she was on the war-path.

ibelieve somewhat the way you do, however it can also be a very bad, and hard to break habbit that unfortunately i myself have. however i do try to curb it with some sugsess. however i do not believe it is an indication of a small vocabulary, nor indication of low intelligence.

Nothing can match up with a well-worded, accurately used string of g-d*mn f'in profanity.

I swear like a sailor & I am proud of it.
But in this forum I take one or two letters out of the swear word & replace it with a *.
Like f*ck.
God that feels good!

I think for the simple minded people who can't use words with more than 4 letters they should substitute them with numbers...
for instance you can tell somebody
to stick in their 3
or
to go 7 themselves...
or
well you get the idea...lol.
simple things for simple people.

Why curse? What does it prove, that you can? So can a parrot. It just is not a requirement. People are no longer shocked.
