I was advised to get a dehumidifier, but I was wondering since I have gas heat and use a "humidifier" in the winter can I still use the dehumidifier as well? Thanks for all your help

in the winter the air in your house is dryer(less humid) and the reason for the humidifier is to replace the moisture in the air that your gas/ forced air furnace is taking out so the de-humidifier would be opposing your humidifier over and above the drier air of the furnace. get the dehumidifier and use it from mid spring to mid fall. use the humidifier from the time that you have to run your furnace 24-7 without opening windows til you can open them in the spring.

if you have a problem with mold, why would you be using a humidifier? you probably have enough moisture in the room already.lose the humidifier, start using a dehumidifier as needed to get the place dried out, and the get rid of the mold with bleach.

my sister lives in an area that has so much moisture she was getting mold in her walls.. she installed a wood stove to help dry out the house.. and it works wonderful. so the idea is to dry out the moisture in the air.. so get rid of the humidifier, maybe that is all you need to do..

yes you can but in cold weather you should need the humiditywith gas heat. if in cold weather with the gas heat running you still smell the mold then i think you should keep an eye out for black mold its very dangerous and should be reported to you local health department
