I am 22 weeks pregnant with identical twin girls. My last blood test indicated my white blood cell count is at 24.6, and should be between 4-10. I am not visibly or noticeably sick. I do feel run down, but just thought it was being pregnant. I was advised to take antibiotics and come back in 3 days for more blood work. Has anyboddy else had a similar exoerience, or have any advice?

I am not sure about the amount, I was told that I had white blood cells, not a lot but enough for medicine. I have the beginning stages of a UTI and my doc. said when there are white blood cells that means there is an infection. I would def. make sure I took the antibiotics and keep that doc. visit. I hope that everything works out well for you!

I've had that before, but I wasn't pregnant. I was about 6 years old and that happened to me (still don't know why) but I was out of school for a month. I had to have a nurse come to my house everyday and I had an IV in my arm for weeks. The medicine wasn't bad though, I had to alternate between some orange crap and other red crap. It's tough but I'm sure the doctors will do all they can to help you through it. Keep praying---that's what I did! God bless and congrats on the new ones :-)

Most likely you just have an illness.

BUT

There is a small, but increasingly likely chance with each additional pregnancy, of the immune system identifying the developing fetus as a foreign body and attacking it. If the doctors recognize that case they prescribe anti-rejection drugs(just like if you had a heart/kidney/liver/etc. transplant) until the pregnancy is over.
