I've always wondered how someone can prefer to wallow in anonymity, yet garner so much attention. And vice versa.

It is the 'real them' which comes through in what they say and do for other people, especially people they've never met. It's a lot of things. Hard to explain.

I agree with Marianne...but there is also sometimes a light, the soul, that just shines through someone's answer that hits you like a ton of bricks and you think WHO IS THIS FORCE???

And then you maybe go to their 360 and see they are in high school or younger and you are humbled....

Other people who struggle for recognition here, like the brat in school constantly raising their hand and yelling TEACHER TEACHER TEACHER are about as entertaining to watch as a salted slug.

I think that some people have this charisma(yes, even online) and they attract people with out even meaning to. It's a gift for some and a curse for others. I, for one, prefer to remain anonymous!

Personally I think the more insecure they are, the more high profile they need to be. *shrugs* They want to say they prefer to be anonymous......to blend in the back ground......to not be noticed. But the need to be noticed becomes clear as they "wallow" (as you say) in the misery as they perhaps allow others to comfort them.

I think a lot of politicians, celebrities and high profilers fall into another category though. They say what they believe others need to hear, but somehow compromise their true personas just to feed the public with what they need to hear.

Thank goodness this isn't true of all people......nor high profilers. But the ones that say "look at me...look at me" have a definite deficit in self esteem and feel the need to allow others to help pump them up. Not necessarily a bad thing. I just always have felt that there had to be a better way to go about it. *shrugs*
