a "receiver" is a vague term to describe any person that catches a pass from quarterback.
There are 2 job duties for receivers.
1. A receiver will run a variety of "routes" in the opponents backfield in an attempt to confuse the other team. Ideally, the receiver will become open for a brief period of time and the quarterback will pass it to him.
2. A receiver can also be a blocker. Teams dont necessarily pass on every play and might ask the receiver to block a defensive back. Downfield blocking by a receiver is something every team appreciates because it can often spring a medium run into a longer one.

The reciever is the one who is overpaid, complains about not getting the ball enough, berates the quarterback and coach, then drops it when he does get the ball thrown to him. Later on, he will compain about the team so much that they will trade him. The next season, he will be traded, and single handedly take down the organization from the inside. He is cut from the team, then fakes a suicide so everybody can pay attention to him. That is a reciever in the NFL.

The reciver is a person the quarter back can throw to if they r not running the ball. He is usually one of the fastest offensive players and he is supposed to catch wat the quarter back throws at him
