I'm with you. What gets me is when you hear people talk about being anti-socialist so that lazy people won't get paid more or the same. That is bullsh-- I bet your friend owes a large college loan too.

Do you have any idea what a delivery driver, hairdresser or waitress actually makes? The hairdresser may be the exception however the delivery driver is generally making only minimum wage and waiters and waitresses sometimes are paid LESS than minimum wage because it is expected that they will be tipped. If they are lucky, after taxes a year's pay for them may only be about 25,000 dollars. Possibly even less as these are generally part time jobs and they are NOT guarenteed a 40 hour work week. Get a clue.

45k per year and he probably has great benefits, vacation and holiday pay, sick pay, and as he gets experience he will move up the salary ladder. Not a bad deal, really.
