Usually the lower the RPM, the better the gas mileage but a good engineer will tell you the most efficient point (RPM) can be plotted on a graph. Too low of an RPM will increase gas consumption as well as a high RPM. The computer on an automatic transmission car will select the gear ratio to give the best gas mileage at any give speed assuming you keep your foot off the floor.

Your engine is revving higher in 3rd gear Higher revs means more gas being sucked through the carburetor/ fuel injectors say at 75mph turning 2500 rpms verses same speed at 1500 rpms. The lower the rr's the hetter/ less gas used The fster the rp0ms the more gas used, the slowere the rpms the less gass consumed Overdrive was the best thing going since slicd bread

Depending on what car you have, many automatics come with an overdrive feature, which is the best "gear" to be in because it gives you the best gas mileage. If you however have a standard transmission in your car, it would be better to drive in fourth gear at 1500rpm because the wheels are spinning at a slower pace which means the car uses less gas to burn for energy. At a higher rpm range, like around 2500rpm, the engine has to work that much harder to keep the wheels spinning at that faster level. This is also true for how fast you are going. You're car will probably get the best gas mileage going 85-90km/h, because cars are designed to consume the least amount of gas at that speed, well, at least here in the U.S.

Yes the lower the rpm the better gas millage you get except the faster you go the less gas millage.I don't know about if it rhyme with gas consumption rpm stands for revolution per minute, that's is how many times the motor turners per. min.If you make horse power you have to feed it with gas.The faster you go the more horse power you make or use.

If the engine is working at larger RPM, it is for sure burning extra gasoline. The engine would not only bypass swifter without extra gas feeding it. in case you will possibly rigidity extra conservatively, you will possibly shop gas.

The lower the RPM's the better fuel economy. Because the motor is not turning as fast.

RPM (revolutions per minute) is directly proportional to fuel consumption. You should always drive in the lowest gear possible.

Depends on the load per given engine, if you notice more accelerator pedal effort in 4th gear than in 3rd gear to maintain same speed, that means it's lugging and it may get better mpg in 3rd.
