i own a repair shop,,and that's a good question,,people think because they pay a lot for a car that it shouldn't cost that much to have it repaired,,i been at it for 36 yrs,and i charge 20,00 bucks an hour,and people get mad because they think that's too much,but they didn't care to pay a 100.000 for the Mercedes there driving,but yet were supposed to repair them for 5 bucks an hour,,mechanics will never be matched up in pay as a doctor or a lawyer is,all we can do is make an hones t living,,good luck i hope this help,s.

I've been a mechanic for yrs and ask the same question. the human body does not change. Diseases do but every year there is not a new and improved human born. But we mechanics have to go to schools and classes to keep up with the new technology. But if that were a legitimate complaint and something was actually done about it. 90% of the people out there would not be able to afford to fix a car. Unless they made car health insurance.

Because if you make a mistake in a car and replace the right tire instead of the left tire, the owner won't sue you to ****...Also, doctors have to spend more time learning...Although I find automotive knowledge more useful than medical.

Mechanics dont have to stick their fingers up other peoples butts
besides, mechanics make anywhere from 40,000 to 140,000 a year....they can work less hours and can generally enjoy their jobs whereas doctors have to put their fingers in other peoples butts...sure that doctor got paid plenty to give physicals to the whole football team but thats nut fondeling money i dont want

It will never happened because people will not spend the money. They have time to shop around for a mechanic if there car dies letting it sit for years until they find someone cheap versus if a love one is dying then you take the first hospital that is close to you and who cares what it costs.

AS a tech myself, the reason being is that a mechanic can replace your engine right? but it is shut off and dissassembled, while a doctor has to do it while it is still running!

Cause you can't get a new battery for a human as easily as you can for a car - funny we can't get rid of spare tires as easily as cars though....
