I have the 2007 edition of Norton virus protection. I keep getting these balloons come up on the right bottom of my screen. One said something about a worm virus and to click here to download the lastest in spyware. When I clicked to see what it was, it was a supposed spyware called VirusBurst, and I checked with Norton and found out that this was an actual virus, so thank goodness I didn't download it. I however, keep getting another balloon that is talking about a Trojan, and is also recommending me download something. I am leary of this now. I have done a scan daily and my system says that it is clear now. I keep getting screens pop up from Microsoft talking about private information being stolen and wanting me to download some other type of spyware protection. My mom said that is a fraud going around and not to fall for it. I am not very computer literate, so please can someone help me and please don't use computer terms that I won't understand. Thanks.

I have the newest Norton Spyware on my computer. According to Norton, this latest version takes care of most viruses including Trajan Horses (Whatever that is) and has fraud monitoring, firewalls and everything that I would need to keep out viruses. I had Norton basic, and when that subscription ended I downloaded this updated edition.

To see if you need an update from Microsoft, click on the Start menu on your computer and then click on Windows Update. You will then select Express Installation. You can make a selection for Microsoft to update automatically as well. Never click on a pop-up that says its from Microsoft. As far as your Norton program goes, you need to set updates to run automatically, which you can do from their Web site, after logging in. Exploring pop-ups can sometimes result in a virus infecting your computer. So your mother is correct (mothers usually are).

Now to start off, Norton is crap lol. It causes system drag. Things sound bad. I suggest u back up yur stuff on a cd or USB Drive and do a fresh install of windows XP. Yeah format everything and do a clean install. Why i say this cause i dont take chances cause viruses can damage yur system files and cause errors. Before u do this, have some reading to do check the sites below, shud help big time. Laterz
