there are many ways to fix the issues, but first you need to know some basic information.
1. Cable company design their network for one computer use only, so when you install a router to it, it will have plenty of problem, but we can fix it.
2. You are using IP address to access rounter to fix are make you need to know about Physical address and Mac address, physical address is for you to use in the router to connect using cable connection and Mac address is a address that is assign to all network hardwares. (to read more about the two, please visit http://about.com)

linksys IP address is: 192.168.1.1

Username: [leave blank]
Password: admin

it not easy to show you how fix your internet connection like this, because the method is not alway work, and there are many ways that you can try which is really long if I type it all for you, and also confuse too. so I would suggest to call the linksys support center and they will help you though the process.
Here are their phone if you don't have it.

P.S. your problem seem to be the router issue which you need to clone the mac address to it and change a few setting so you can access the internet.

This is most likely going to be an issue with the modem communicating to the router. Have you ensured that the internal port on the modem is on the same subnet range as the router? That is if it is an internal of 192.168.?.? That the router is on the same format, except for the last number of course? Some times the modem and router will not be on the same internal IP range, one will be on a 172.x.x.x while the other will be on a 192.x.x.x. That is the problem I had with my own LinkSys when attempting to do a home network when on cable. I corrected the mismatched IP settings by first directly connecting to the modem from the PC and setting all of the settings that I needed, keeping track of the DNS servers and subnet mask and such. Then I direct connected to the router after that and ensured that I used the modems internal IP as the gateway, and setup the DNS servers and also ensured that the router was on the same subnet mask as the modem. I would start there, then consider after that seeing if any of your friends have a router that you can swap out to test to ensure that the router just did not go bad.

Make sure you are calm and cool when you fix your Home Network...

~ I'm sure you'll be able to set it up again... (",) Trust me I've been there...

~ The more you rush things up it won't run, you have to take it slow and re-configure your router; since you hit the reset button right?

I had this same problem. You need to call your ISP. With me, we added more TVs and there wasn't enough power for all. They added another line and it was back at 100%.

allot of cable Internet companies also use proxy servers, if they updated them in anyway you will have to call your cable company to have their network recognize you again
