Do you think for the things that you deem to be "important" to be realized that certain other things you might see as negative must necessarily take place??

Yes; it always makes the most sense. We have to learn hard lessons. If not we keep continuing to make the same mistakes and paying for them till we get it right. Why would this happen if there wasn't a lesson to be learned from the experience.

I believe in a loose fate... changable where nothing is set in stone and everything can be made better...

while it may be someone's fate to do something great... that can be accomplished many ways and I think most things can be accomplished through positive work and ideas...

I'm not sure what you mean in your details. Maybe an example would help. Yes, I do believe in fate generally speaking.

Call it fate if you like, but I like to see it as things that I can have no affect on and/or anticipate.
