The misdimeanor is a simple possession of marijuana when I was 19 and I am now 25 and clean of drugs.

Yes - just make sure you are honest about any and all records. They will come to you and ask you about your previous records, but it's not a problem, as long as you admit to the 'issue' up front.

Yes, I have a very close friend in the United States that is a supervisor of "Home Land Security", with a security clearance.

An I can tell you that she has a long rap sheet for DWI's, parole violations for failure to attend drug and alcohol classes ordered by the judge.

Arrested for driving without a drivers lic., more the once.

She was up front and never tired to hide her criminal records. Plus they were on her application.

She was hired and has since made supervisor.

It is possible. And there are government agencies that will not give you a security clearance with a misdemeanor record.

You don't mention the government agency that you need the security clearance from.

Having knowledge of the FBI an Interpol, after 9/11 they have become alot more strict.
