In the short term, there's a negative environmental impact. Rockets are inefficient and environmentally unfriendly. But long term, space exploration will benefit the environment. We'll develop environmentally friendly ways to get into orbit, like the space elevator, and we'll be able to locate environmentally unfriendly industries in space or elsewhere in the solar system. It's worth the short-term environmental damage.

Stagnation is the curse of any business - ask any business consultant. You have to always be looking to expand or you die.

Humanity is just a business on a massive scale. To not explore new fields would invite stagnation.

With the space station, docking a space craft in space has become second nature. Docking by asteroid and mining its material would produce fantastic benefits for us. The greenies would have a field day (excuse the pun) - no more digging big ugly holes in the Earth.

Too many!! It costs billions of dollars to send a shuttle into space, but the benefits outweigh the costs. Advances in both technology and medicine are the major benefits not to mention mankind's instinctive desire to want to explore. I think mother nature deliberately made humans this way so as to keep us wanting to learn and explore more and therefore survive.

not only do you have the drain on earth resources in order to build the ships to build the platforms to build bigger ships in orbit, you would have the incresing danger of orbital debris and associated dangers. being hit by the tiniest screw or bolt travelling at 50k kph is enough to spoil anyones day. there is also the danger to other lifeforms that we may encounter in our travels in the distant future as the exhaust fumes from ship exhaust may prove deadly to anything we may come across.
some of the above is just fatuous, but the consequences of not looking to the future means that we are making mistakes now and damaging the environment now, both directly and indirectly. this is something that has to be judged on an individual basis; the balance between ecological and environmental damage and the pure and simple drive for truth and knowledge. personally, i am willing to accept a great deal of damage to the environment if and only if, this damage can be repaired as a direct result of the research that caused the damage in the first place.

the three actual work together, yet of the three i might %. the electorate. i'm not conversing very just about behaviour however the temper of human beings and infrequently organised protest. the two politicians and marketplace would desire to evaluate this, the conventional public are efficient if riled. actual politicians can help, yet they'd desire to be careful they create the conventional public with them. it quite is rather consumer-friendly to be certain circumstances arising the place communities of electorate deliver mutually to efficiently reason disruption as got here approximately in the united kingdom over petrol taxes some years in the past. it quite is least confusing to alter politicians. Politicians being lawmakers can do lots to regulate industries and companies. stable companies have the understanding to ensure those issues and could be proactive in waiting for what it skill to them sooner or later and act early. super countries tend to be extra different, and extra complicated for government to regulate and doubtless tend to be slower in changing direction yet i would not say it quite is unavoidably a inflexible rule. The impact of history is an rather complicated remember and how it impacts a countries environmental impact. the united kingdom is an rather crowded smallish island which relies upon lots on worldwide impact, previous and latest, for its sense of delight. The corporation is robust and has taken a united and unequivocal place on worldwide warming as has maximum of Europe and Japan. the U. S. has a history possibly of leaving its electorate extra on my own and of smaller government impact on their lives. the common guy or woman has a lots extra desirable carbon footprint than everywhere else so there is extra to alter.
