Put a -9 in place of every x, then start adding/multiplying from inside parenthesis out. First do (3x-5) which is -27-5 or -32. This is preceded by a - sign so the result from the curved parethesis is 32. The next parenthesis is the square brackets which now contains [32 - x] or [32 - (-9)] or [[32+9] or [41]. Finally multiply by the - in front to get -41
