What do worms eat? My friend says that they eat dead rabbit. Is that true? Could I get a cardboard box filled with dirt and put worms in it and expect to see them live?

as an example--earthworms eat humus, etc. in the soil.
We used to raise earthworms for fishing. We kept the worms in a wooden container of soil (approximately 18") and kept it lightly dampened throughout. We sprinkled corn meal, coffee grounds, tea grounds, and vegetable scraps, i.e., potato peels, orange peels, celery stalks, etc., on top of the dirt. The worms thrived on this mixture.

By-the-way, the cardboard/corrugated board box will degrade with the dirt and moisture in the dirt. The worms will eat some of the cardboard.

Depends on the species of worm. Earthworms eat dirt.

Maggots, which are the larval form of flies, eat rotten meat.

Most worms are detritovores, meaning they eat rotting organic material, so yeah they would probably eat dead rabbit.

they feed on organic matter that's decomposing, oh, and the slime covering them is their own excrement
