it happens to me ALL the time.
Why is that? What happens in our brains to not let us recognise it?

because you are so use to writing it you don't have to think about it. it comes naturally. same as driving when you realize you don't know where you are. it's the simple fact you drive it without having to think about it. i hate when this happens though good question. i give you thumbs up.

Yes it's like I know that it's spelled right but it just doesn't look right. My nephew asked my how to spell Breakfast the other day. He wrote it but it just didn't look right. I guess sometimes our typing or writing gets ahead of our brain or something.

Yeah that happens to me all the time, but what's weirder is when you say it. If you say a word a a lot of times then you begin to notice how weird it sounds and you almost forget how to say it.

Sure have, and it isn't just because I can't read my own writing most of the time. Or, if you say a word too many times in a row it will lose all meaning. Goofy...

Perhaps it's a quarrel between the right and the left brain. It does happen to me and I usually chalk it up to bad memory.

Yes. I don't know what it is, but it happens with words that I speak, as well. They sound foreign.
