I assume you mean the metric system. We have been using the British system since we've been here. Changeover would be expensive, but other countries (including UK) have done this. Expense is frequently given as the reason, but I think ignorance (most people don't understand it, including most of our nations leaders) & prejudice. I remember when Congress was debating this issue, 1 Congressman got up & said that adopting the metric system would be un American.

I will say; Because of the Constitution and the varied cultures in America it use a Dynamic System that can adjust over time to the will of the people.

Are you talking about the metric system?
If you are, then the answer is that the US doesn't need to do anything it doesn't want to do. The old boys learned the Imperial system, and dang it, they are not going to change to some new-fangled fancy scientific stuff.
