With whites being approx 47% of the population the odds are that most succesful black people have the support of many whites, take Oprah for example, the majority of her audience is white. George Washington Carver was adopted by a white family and went on to be probably the most notable black scientist in American history.
But I would have to disagree that all successful black people are dependent upon a community of whites to raise and teach them.
What I would argue is that behind all highly succesful black celebrities is a white consumer majority.

"raised and taught them" This is rude to say actually. I feel success is not a matter of color, religion, or anything else as superficial as such. I am going to say that that comment sounds rather shallow and indignant. Success comes from EFFORT. Anyone can be a successful person. Heck you can be a success in even being a racist or slob or snobby self-centered individual... it all depends on the effort you put into it. For those working their behinds off making their life better... It doesn't matter where you came from originally or even what your name is... You aim high and go for it. "White Community"? Everyone originated from somewhere, The United States, I was taught was a "Melting Pot" so if you go back to the first time your own family came to America... who taught them?

you do not ought to get all worked up only because a guy who's 0.5 black is president now. it really is compared to he will come and imprison you for being white. it is going to easily very last for 8 years besides. If all us "approaches" were waiting to live on W's time period, i'm particular you could live on Obama. only calm down. EDIT: The Civil conflict changed into no longer about freeing the slaves, it changed into about State's rights. Lincoln only freed the slaves contained in the states that had formally succeded. Slaves in states like Delaware and Maryland were no longer freed for almost a three hundred and sixty 5 days AFTER the conflict ended. The slaves were freed as a punishment to the states that were no longer unswerving to the federal authorities. They practice this in intense colleges now.

Ummm...no. I'm not white, I'm not even black and I think this statement is a reckless thing to say. To say that would also imply that other races are only successful because there is a white community to back them up. There will always be the worst of the worst...what do we say about successful white people? they got there by themselves? well why couldnt it apply to all other races as well? Also, I've noticed that while many other races like to defend themselves and point fingers at race, we also like to generalize all white people as rascist and ignorant bloodthirsty cultural "homewreckers". Isn't that rascist and ignorant of us?

Assuming you are white, why haven't your 'white' parents raised you and taught you well. Such questions only show where you come from....a severly disrupted 'white' family background...
anyways, how much do fools like you charge to GROW UP...we can start a fund for idiots like you here on Yahoo! answers.

I disagree, and I'm going to tell you why. White people did not make this country. Think about it. Who worked them damn plantations and helped raise WHITE CHILDREN? Black people. I don't need a white community to be behind me. I am successful because I had my mother (black) my father (black) my siblings (black), grandparents (black) friends (black) and family (black) behind me. Every successful person is not successful because of white folk. Hell, I bet you white people would like it better if we weren't successful. I don't know if this is your statement or somebody elses. But I can say this TRULY upset me. I am not successful because white people raised me and taught me. Last time I checked my mama raised me, and she taught me almost everything I know. And my mama is BLACK! So whoever wrote this needs to rethink there comment. This is not only racist, but this is one of the reasons why there is so much hate in this world. Ignorant people like this...

I'm a white American 39 year old male, and statistically the most likely to agree with your statement. However, socially, intellectually, morally, do you really agree with that kind of a **** statement? What is your basis and who do you represent?

that is the most short-sighted comment I have heard today. You might as well say that behind every successful white person are millions of dead native americans, thousands of polluted rivers and lakes, and a slew of dirty politicians. How about, in front of a hundred dead lemmings is one lemming who ran into a lake? douchebag.
