I have a 2-piece Am. Standard toilet and wanna replace the flush level with a different one (color preference). Can I buy a different brand? Will if fit in my toilet? Or do I have to stick with American Standard?

The flush handle/arm, assembly should be fairly standard, unless, as one of the previous folks, mentioned, it is a side flush handle. The one thing you need to know is that the nut that holds the handle part tight to the tank is a left handed thread. So turn it clockwise to loosen, counter clockwise to tighten. Also make sure you don't adjust the new chain too tight or too loose. Too tight won't allow the flapper ball to properly seat on the valve body, too loose could allow it to get caught under the flapper and not allow it to close. Trial and error usually gets it done.

OK, you want to change out the flush HANDLE, right?

They should be interchangable. The hole in the tank should be kinda square, this will seat the main part of the handle, and then you thread the retaining piece on from inside the tank.

Just make sure you are aware of the mounting, is it a front mount, or a side mount? (is the hole in your tank on the front left, or on the side) They will direct you to the right part at Loews or wherever you go.
