They usually do under the tongue for a physical checkups but not rectal, unless you're an infant. You didn't have to agree to have such thing done, unless they have specific reason to why they need a rectal temp.

No it is not normal, unless there are extenuating reasons such as having one's jaw wired shut. Even then, tympanic membrane of the ear is more common.

I'd ask the doctor why that was done. In the absence of a valid reason I suggest writing a complaint, or at least a concern to the Board of Nursing of that State. You can find the board of nursing by using keywords "board of nursing" and the state name.

It is possible that this constitutes sexual assault. Your reporting it will, in the least, stop the nurse's perversion.

No the only time a rectal is usually done is in baby's and for some reason that a oral can't be taken and they need a accurate temp. or in the case of a extreme situation.

Its the only accurate way. An d the only time they dont do it is if you are over 40 yrs. ild and the you get the armpit one.
