My IPOD broke becuase the hard drive broke. Will Apple send me a brand new IPOD video?

You will get the same model you sent them. We just had one relaced. a wrench fell on it. Dented it, the guy at the apple store was great, said the problem was due to abuse and the warranty did not cover it, but he would give us one anyhow.
It may have been refurbished, but it looked like brand new, not a mark on it.
I love Apple support.
Since Apple does not fire sale there products when new ones comes out, I am going to guess that products pulled from inventory are used for warranty replacement and while they may not say you get a new one, you might.

The same thing just happened to mine..out of nowhere....I took it to the geek squad at best buy and they said they had never seen anything like it...so they sent it back to apple. They told me I should expect it back from apple in 2-3 weeks. If Apple can't fix it I get store credit. I expect you might get a refurbished one or have your's repaired if you got it from apple in the 1st place though.

well they first see if you're covered under warranty...if you are and the damage is not your fault through normal wear and tear...they usually give you a refurbished one....rarely a brand new one....and of course it will always be that same generation.
I gave them mine and I received a refurbished one in about a week.
