While he/she may look at other things, as well, the doctor will almost certainly:

- Take a complete history for family illness, personal habits, environmental risks that could make you at risk for illness
- Listen to your chest for lung sounds and heart rate
- Look into/at your eyes, ears, nose, and throat to make sure there are no signs of illness
- Check your blood pressure, heart rate, respiration, reflexes, and other vital signs
- Palpate your stomach, neck, and other soft tissue to feel for masses
- Order specific tests like a blood and urine analysis, chest x-rays, electrocardiogram, ultrasound, mammogram, colonoscopy, bone density test...all dependent on your age, gender, ethnicity, and other risk factors

There are two types of doctor that I saw when I went for physical. or check up..
(no not dreamdoc!!)

1. the one will say... what's your concern. this kind of doctor basically is useless and he does know what to do at all. You can avoid this type.

2. the other which will take your urine test, blood test and meaure your height and weight. This type is good. At least from blood and urine test, you will find out lots about your body

I dont know what they do where you live but in Australia they , take blood pressure, weight, temp, ecg, ask if you are having any problems, anything worrying you, and blood test for full blood count, red cells, whitecells., etc. also test for diabeties and urine sample, it also depends on your age, I recommend that you write down any concerns and if possible take someone with you that can remember details as time in doctors office can be limited and often its difficult to take it all in once your results come back, but you should do the examination every year. hope this helps
