There's Civil Court (where you sue someone); there's "Traffic Court" where you go when you get a ticket, "Lower Court" for minor criminal activity, there's "Superior Court" for the bigger stuff - up to murder, then there's "Supreme Court" where they decide the issues and set the precedents like abortion and stuff.

The Supreme Court, covers the whole United states!! Not just New York. If the lower courts, disagree or turn you down, the last place you can take you'r case is the Supreme Court!!!

We are not easily confused, we are just contrary. We also consider battery (unwanted touching) as assault in our wonderful state. If you really want to read how contrary we are, read the articles in the NY times about the justice courts and how the judges don't even have to be LAWYERS.
