No most of the time they don't. That's why back in the old days they used to put coins on the eye lids to keep them shut for the viewing of the body.
Usually when a person dies it is not like you see it in movies. Your body goes through some unpleasant things, for example some one who dies will probably soil them selves or vomit, bleed, urninate etc.
It's not a pretty sight.
Why do you ask?

You hit on the right subject. Think folks, are your eyes open or closed when you die. They are open. The eyes are the passage to your soul. You are a thinking, breathing, warm person in your body. When you die you leave that vessel behind and you soul joins your family on the other side. You have no choice, there is no hell. All of us go to the same place but maybe a different level. If you are a mean bad person while here you go to that level on the other side. If you are nice, kind, loving and help others you will go to that level. The body only serves as a vessel for your soul so that you can do Gods work with free will, of course. Therefore all Gods Creatures die with their eyes open, looking toward heaven.

As a hospice volunteer the ones I have seen die die with their eyes closed cause they eventually die in their sleep. My own father is included in that...but there are those who die with their eyes open and it is usually the job of the undertaker to close them. In olden times they would put a coin over their eyes to close them.

when you die your body becomes incontinent and you lose all power over your limbs, muscles ect. so if you die with your eyes shut they stay shut and the same if there open when you die.

everything relaxes when you die. Your eyelids will fall open, because it takes conscious and unconscious effort to keep them closed. Once consciousness leaves, then the eyelids relax. If they are closed, they will open. Nobody dies with their eyes shut. They always open. Same with your jaw. Your jaw no longer clenches.

AHH --

IF THE EYES ARE SHUT THEN THE SOUL LEAVES ANOTHER DOOR.

IF THE EYES ARE OPEN - THE SOUL LEAVES THRU THE EYES.

THE SOUL HAS 9 OPTIONS TO CHOOSE- WHEN LEAVING THE BODY

EYES ARE "ONE " OPTION

FIGURE OUT THE REST
