What would have happened if the French won the French and Indian war?

Suppose the french had won the French and Indian war. what do you think would have been the consequences for the British colonies in the short and long run?

French would have kept their provinces in North America (Canada and along the Mississipi river). They would have had to chose between British and American (one reason of their intervention during Independance war was that they hoped to get back the possessions they lost). Since French Revolution was close and France was always fighting against Great Britain (since middle ages), perhaps would have it been americans.

On an economic point of view, French would have either joined the independantists either tried to convice them to avoid the conflict.

And what if, they'd attacked alone the British to get the whole control of the colonies? Then, there would have been a tension between France and Independantists (France had taxes too) and the Independance war would have changed protagonists. And the whole history of long friendship between France and the USA wouldn't have existed.

But, as the french proverb says: "avec des si, on pourrait mettre Paris en bouteille" (with "if"s, we could put Paris in a bottle)
