I've never cared much for makeup, but I thought Id try a little mascara, does mascara make your eyelashes fall out or break or something? And what is the best mascara out there?

what are clumps? Because the magazine ads always say clump-free or something. I don't want anything to volume-izing just something natural looking but bold if that makes sense..

No mascara does not make your eyelashes fall out or anything like that unless it is really really old. Clumps are when you put on the mascara, you notice that all your eyelashes are sticking together. This happens a lot, but now there are clump-free mascaras in the market.
I personally like L'oreal's, Maybelline's and Covergirl's mascaras.
Try to find something that you like. If you want a natural look, try Covergirl's Remarkable Mascara, it's purple. Good luck!

Mascara is kind of like putting a coat of paint on your eyelashes. It is entirely not harmful to them.
Sometimes, because you're "painting" the little tiny hairs, the paint can "clump" together where two or more hairs are too close to each other. You'll want to avoid this, because it sort of negates the point.
Curling your eyelashes can help...but not everyone needs this.
If you don't like to use mascara, you use a little bit of vaseline, just applied with your thumb & forefinger. This will bring out the detail in your lashes, which might give you the effect you're looking for.

Clinique makes awesome mascara... It doesn't clump and I love the water proof. It won't make your lashes fall out unless you never take it off... That causes them to break. I use a gentle make-up remover by The Body Shop, but Cover Girls works just as well. I don't curl before I curl after. You don't have to curl at all. It's a matter of your personal preference.

Maybellene New York mascara would be great. It has a 1 and 2 step process. I know it sounds like much but really it makes them still look natural. Clumps are when mascara forms little rolls of mascara on your eyelashes. Thats when it looks choppy.

I use cover girl "Sky High Curves" and when I want a very natural look. I aslo like it because it doesnt clump (multiple lashes stuck together by the mascara) at all!!! If you want to go for a "fancy" mascara Benefit has good mascara too.

No mascara does not make your eyelashes fall out or break. Eyelashes fall out just like hair not as much as hair.
I've used many different brands of mascara, trying to figure out what one i liked.
It depends on how much money you are willing to spend on mascara.
I've used Skyscraper from Urban Decay and it is 16.50.
I've used cover girl, mac, maybelline. I personally like Urban Decay and Mac, but it's hard because I have to drive about an hr. or so just to get to the malls where they have them
Definitely try different brands until you find one you like. And just to let you know mascara only lasts about 3 months, then it's time to throw it out, and buy a new one!

I hate using mascara too but I recently just bought Chanel mascara and it's great. It's a bit expensive but I don't get clumps at all. I bought the kind w/ the small brush so it gets every hair. I love it.

mascara does not make ur eyelashes fall out unless u pull it off with ur nails. i say get some good makeup remover and clumps are where the mascara balls up and looks retarded. (sry to those who dont like the word retarded) but i only use mascara and lipgloss because concealer gets in your pores and ****.

Well, clumps are the gobs of mascara that you can get on your eyelashes if you don't apply it right. I would use a light color...maybe a gray...that way it isn't too bold. Oh yea, get waterproof...that way if you rub your eyes it doesn't go EVERYWHERE.

mascara does not make your lashes fall out . Just get some good eye makeup remover. My fav mascara is Mary Kay.
