Go to emotionalconflict.com and to amazon.com The Amazon one had a book called How to be a terrific parent even if you didn't have one. Emotional conflict had a great one about how to get over things from your past. How to forget how you were traumatized as a child by emotional abuse and learn the better way to parent your own children. If you do not overcome your inner feelings and the stigma placed on you by your parents, you will not be a good parent. I wish you the best and pray for things to work out for your best future possible! I have been there and know how it is!

There is a trilogy, The 1st book in it is a 'child called it' (Either that or 'a boy called it'. It is a true story about the 2nd worse documented child abuse case in California history. The author is Dave Pelzer (I read the series about 10 years ago, so I am trying to remember). He was abused both physically and mentally.
The kid, the 1st book is about grew up to become a motivational speaker. The 3rd book is about his adult life.
It is not a self-help book, but I think it could lend you some insight into the healing process.

A good one is called Dealing with Shame by John Bradshaw, a excellent source for all family issues. He has workshops, tapes and books. He has a site check it out. Would be a good starting point. He's helped me with family abuse.
