as an inducer its only good at speeding up the process once you have begun labor. I took it with my 1st pregnancy thru my midwives orders and had my daughter 12 hours later

Depends on what you took it for , Some people think that taking castor oil will cause them to go into labor but that only happens if you were ready to begin with. If you took the oil as a laxative it should work within 6 hours if it is going to at all.

If you are talking about natural induction, then it should have done the trick in a few hours.I hope you talked to your doctor first though.Drinking Castor oil can dehydrate you and the baby. And it may also not even work for you, just give you severe cramps and diarrhea, thats it. So to be on the safe side be sure your doctor okayed it before you try it.

Babies come when they are darn good and ready. Not according to a doctors archaic calculation method. If you drank castor oil and your baby was ready to be born anyway, you'll go into labor and have a baby. If baby is not ready, well then, you'll have clean insides!

I tried it with my 3rd baby. I drank it at 10pm and labor began at 4am. But I have always asked myself "was it the castor oil? or was it baby's decision?"

I really think it was just time and not the castor oil.

Good luck. Have a healthy baby and an unmedicated birth. Remember, the birth process is GOOD for babies!

I have heard that it can cause problems with the baby..so I wouldnt take any chances. Just give it time, and I hope that labor goes well for you.

I did it with my first and had her a day later the midwife told me I could do it, but it was the grossest thing I couldn't bring myself to drink her with my other child, good luck.
