Photosynthesis produces sugars and cellular respiration breaks down those sugars. Cellular respiration is in the mitochondrion and photosynthesis is in the chloroplast.

photosynthesis is the process by which a plant uses the suns energy water and carbon dioxide to make food with oxygen as a biproduct.while respiration is the process by which that food made in photosynthesis is broken in the prescence of oxygen to provide energy with carbon dioxide as water as biproducts. in some way respiration is the reverse of photosynthesis.

If i'm not istaken,Photosynthesis is the way plants "make" their food. Respiration is their breath, the absolute need to survive.
