depends on the size of the cylinder
but - the formula to find it is:
Volume = p • r² • height = ¼ • p • d² • height
where :
d= diameter
p= pi (3.14...)
r= radius

Volume of a cylinder is the area of the base multiplied by the height.
So, since the base is a circle with area = pi x r^2,
This means the volume = pi X r^2 x height.
Good luck!

... the formula for the volume of a cylinder is:
pi(r)^2(h) <--- So it's pi multiplied by r(radius)^2 by h(height)...and also, this ^ means squared for the computer.
And extra formulas that you might need sooner or later^^:
the surface area formula of a cylinder: 2pi(r)^2+2pi(r)(h)
For the volume formula of a cone: it would be 1/3pi(r)^2h or pi(r)2h over 3
For the volume formula of a sphere: 4/3pi(r)^3

Brambly...is right. But you should know why.
V = pi r^2 h = A h; where pi r^2 = A, the area of the right angle cross section of the can. That cross section is simply a circle; so its area is the pi r^2. So the volume, V, is just the area of the cross section times how high the can is.

Area of the base circle times the height.
Area of a circle = pi * radius * radius
so Volume = pi * radius * radius * height

r-radius,h-height
volume=22/7 x (r^2) x h
R- external radius and r- internal radius
volume of solid cylinder= 22/7 x (R^2-r^2) x h
