I think the main challenges of freedom are the limits to which it should be applied. It is always an issue in today's society of how much freedom we should have and how much the government should be involved in our lives. There has always been a lot of gray area with freedom and as society changes and adapts, it will continue to be a challenge.

Ok. In your question there is a pressupposed thing which I would like to point out, to bring it up. It is: freedom has challenges, and more: there is a main one.

Having present that the concept/idea of freedom is one of the bunch which have interested philosophers and every kind of social, religious leaders/thinkers af all time, I bet that, if there is such a challenge, then it is supposed to be its own defintion and derived implications in people's real life (the social, economical and political organazation of societies).

I am sorry for writting a sentence too long, with no period. Perhaps in another chance I can reformulate it to it turns easier to be understood.

Another challenge of freedom, accepting that it has a challenge, can very well be the avoidance of individualism/egoism it can get to, when some have it as to be: do what you want, at any time in any place, always for your good.

That's what I think. Sorry for the mistakes in English!

These days a quick answer might be terrorism; however, I think the main challenge to freedom is more subtle than that. It's when we forget what freedom means to us as a society, and what losing it would mean for our future generations. Knowing how far we've come and the sacrifices made to insure our freedom and not taking that for granted and becoming apathetic is key to keeping our freedom.

The main challenge of freedom are those who are brain washed in to believing a destructive belief system. The biggest challenge to democracy is if the majority are wrong.

It would seem that this day and age that the main challenge of freedom is to keep terrorists from using it against us.

Do you mean personally or as nations? Personally, new freedom is often frightening and bewildering because it removes structure and order from our lives that we may have come to depend on and rely on for guidance and direction. Like, in high school your life is set out for you, you are automatically doing the "right thing" just by going to school and so on. But after high school you could go north, south, east or west, become an armed robber or an armadillo rancher and that's a bit bewildering to most people. Like, at that point, how do you judge if you're doing the right thing? Or whether you are pursuing real happiness or false leads? Bleh.

As nations, ... my pen just ran outta ink - smiles.

Freedom is a great privilege, the main challenge is responsibility. You must decide for yourself what that is, that is what makes it a challenge.

I believe that the main challenge of freedom is to not abuse that freedom by impinging on another person's own freedom.

The main challenge of freedom, is not ever forgetting what that freedom costs and who paid for that freedom. Once you forget the cost of freedom, you do not appreciate what it is and certainly do not remember those who died and were wounded to allow us to have our freedom.

The main challenge in my opinion is to not abuse freedom. Having the ability to move about freely, to have freedom of speech means we must be tolerant of others exercising their rights as well, even if we don't agree with them, and to exercise good judgement ourselves in using our rights so as not to infringe upon others, or face losing our rights.
