Not a person of color but had this to say~
I just find it ironic that there is this issue with African Americans not liking lighter skinned people since so many speak out about predjudice cause of skin color - have seen this on tons of talk shows lately.
So many people want to just have everyone realize that everyone is the same on the inside but then within that group - there is more predjudice - probably because the darker skinned people think that the lighter skinned people have some Caucasian somewhere in their background and they don't necessarily have to to have lighter skin.

In order to blend the color lines you must be cultural and also able to communicate very well, because I am a African American brother with a white person name and so you see I learn all that I can from other races and groups of people because it is like the human body we can't live without a heart or lungs or liver,so the truth is we all need one another to make a complete functioning body, because we all have something inside of us that is unique and special for all of us to bring to the table, because we are all one of a kind because no one does it like you and no does it like me no matter what our skin color is,because we all have something different and beautiful to offer,no matter what the skin color is no two people are alike because every creed and color have a vital role to play on this stage called life.

Read some of the answers the this question and there you go...black people wake up, Do you know how many people die a year to look like you? Suntanning is a booming business and still growing. Love the skin your in from the fairest to the darkest, its all beautiful, and everyone knows it, they just dont want you to know how blessed you are to have such beautiful range of skin color that looks great on and with anything and it blends, enhances quite nice with all other races. Its all part of the racist process of pure and simple "hatin".

Yikes.. What a can of worms.I see this all the time at work.I just don't get it.With in the group of people I work with we have all colors of people. However if by people of color you refer to "black" people.Well,we have quite a few more black men than any other races. And within this group of people there is more hate than say the few whites and all the others. If a lighter skinned man earns a step in grade, the darker men resent it ."he got the raise because he is lighter".Not because he earned it.If one of the darker guys earns a step in grade it's because he is kissing up.These people just don't get along. I would note I see this happen in all groups of people.I don't think we can do anything to blend the color line.Nature is going to take care of that. But untill then. You are always going to have issues. The first thing to do is pratice what you preach.Love your neighbor and respect a man/woman for their achievements.Don't down each other.

This issue is one of the major self perpetuating complexes that we as black people buy into. It is sad that "we" are so cought up in skin color when there are so many other more IMPORTANT issues for us to deal with as a race! So what, we come in all different different shapes, colors, and sizes. Let's stop fighting and embrace our diffrences. It's a beautiful thing what we have among our race and there is so much to be PROUD of; like: Our inner beauty, our strong spirit, loving and nurturing souls, our integrity, our ability to overcome great obstacles, our willingness to stand for what we believe in, and our determination to succeed and reach our highest potential while enduring great pain and suffering!!!!!

I personally don't think the colour line will ever blend..theres far too much racism in the country and it's getting ever worse. I live in the UK and there are huge problems here between blacks, whites, yellows etc.... In the past 10 years the colours here have multiplied in their thousands and the majority of whites have just about had more than they can take (hence the increased violence today)...I have a friend who is black and she feels inferior at times, she was born here and won't go out on her own in fear of getting racially abused.

painful question, I'm of mixed race, i don't have an issue with my color but the world around me does. i lived in GA for 10 years it was awful. i don't live there anymore, i live on the left coast and somehow I've been made a Mexican. i don't understand why we've made skin color so important in our lives. it's effect on me was that i don't have to many friends of my race(s). I'm better off with out having to pick a side.

its common now
well i am in the middle of the skin colours and it hurts to be judged by what colour we are. But there is nothing we can do about it unless everyone is willing to accept everyone has a different skin colour. And accept this request with mature attitude. Take care.

I am brown skinned and I have not yet gained any benefit from this fact. I still have to prove myself regardless of the shade of my complexion. The only way to blend the color line is to let go of the slave mentality.

Well, yes i noticed that even people of color differ among themselves on a scale of shade. For examlpe one chinese guy said that he asked me out because i had a light skin. To him dark skin was equal to uneducated peasants. But it is not very big issue. Whatever people prefer.
