He had a solid existing stock of crack cocaine. That was a huge selling point for her.

Hey, don't get it twisted. Has anyone seen "Being Bobby Brown"???? not defending Bobby, but Whitney has issues too. And I don't believe they started when she married Bobby. I think she married for love. She may have led a sheltered life and the first "bad boy" she "had", blew her mind. But has far as the drug use, I think she was probably already experimenting, or as she says " partying" way before Bobby came along.

She married him because he was popular when she was,and it was good for publicity, and when she saw what he had dancing in his pants, it probably sealed the deal. Plus once he had her sharing the drug habit, all his abuse and faults, looked like angel dust ,all sparkly and pretty like. Blinds you to the truth until you realize that he basically ruined her voice and career with the drugs. She was going places and now, the only way out, is clean and free from drugs, and clean and free from Bobby B. She should live far away from him, until she can get and stay clean, have the surgery necessary to restore whats left of her voice and then slowly work at gaining back the trust and faith of those in the industry ,who have the power to guide her back to fame and a future. I wish her the best. We all make mistakes in our lives, wrong choices and the like, so who are we to judge. Sometimes you have to hit rock bottom , before you can float back up to the top.

I believe that Whitney may have originally been drawn to him because he "seemed" down to earth and easy to talk to. I also think that around the time that they met (in 1989) she was being given a hard time about "selling out" because of the type of music that she sang. (People booed her at the Soul Train Awards and others called her "Whitey Houston"). This was also the time when hip-hop and rap really took off and maybe she felt insecure about herself by all of that. Perhaps she wanted to be seen as being "cool, down, and a real black person" by being with Bobby Brown.
Opposites may attract, but as her own mother said, "to thine own self be true." Not a match made in heaven.

Doug J,
Love does funny things to the best of us. So it is probably that simple, they feel in love with each other and it appears they became there own worst enemies.

At the time I believe she couldn't find anyone else who would love her, as for him, he was just looking for some easy cash to spend cause he sure didn't have any.
