Rate is usually given as a percentage, while ratio is in the form x:y (as in 1:4 which is read as one to four).

A rate is a number or percentage that is set at a fixed amount although this may or could change on daily or more basis for eg the interest rates banks charge.

A ratio is the percentage total that is divisible between different amounts for eg the ratio of the class is 12:14 ie 12 girls to 14 boys..

Hey bud in scientific terms a rate is a measurement of the frquency with wich an event takes place or the velocity of movement of a body of mass. Such as Your heart beats at a rate of 86bpm. Or a car travels at a given rate of speed.

A ratio is a comparison of two or more objects or an approximation of wieghted value between one object or event and another. For ex. Your friend beats you twice enery time you play him for every time you beat him once. He has a 2 to 1 win ratio over you. or 2:1 a ratio can be a statiscal measurment used to calcultate odds or it can be a static known value depending on your sittuation. But a rate can only be a fixed static value. It is what it is. Got it? http://www.convert-me.com/en/ try this link youll learn more
