Chair rail is wood trim used to protect a wall from the back of the chair. The painted or stained trim is more durable than lets say drywall. It usually ranges from 30" to 36" off the floor. You can get "chair rail" at the local lumber yard. Good luck

In dinning room and eat in kitchen. Chair rail protects the walls from people pushing chairs into it. It adds a certain amount of charm and class to the room
