my car has been having problems starting for awhile now. It strains to turn over. Once i get it started I have to manually warm the engine by keeping my foot on the accelerator (someone broke off the choke), if i don't, the car stops running and i have to restart it, causing it to flood. Once the engine is warm it runs on its own.

Anyway, yes i know this question is long, please keep reading. I started the car today, and forgot something in the house and shut it off 5 seconds after i started it the first time. I got back in the car, tried to start it, and nothing! It wont even turn over now! The lights work (dash, headlights, stereo). What is causing this?? Is it the Altenator, the battery or the starter?? please help!

if it won't turn over, it's the battery or starter. If it clicks and whirls a little bit but doesn't make it over, it's the battery

Two possible problems:
1. The starter has gone bad an/or batt connection at the starter.
2. I have seen the ignition switch in the steering column go bad/pull a-part.
